| Company Overview: Fidelity National is one of the largest and most widely used title insurance companies in the Untied States. They also offer other financial services through their subsidiary, Sedgwick CMS. They are located in Florida, and operate with five major underwriting companies: Fidelity National Title, Chicago Title, Ticor Title, Security Union Title and Alamo Title. Fidelity National Title Group writes 28% of the title insurance policies in the US. |

| Our Review: Although they don’t provide a lot more than phone numbers and email contacts for customer service, their site is well designed and their product is a good one. A better history of the company would be nice, but that isn’t going to affect the actual insurance they sell so it isn’t essential. |

| User Review: When I bought my house I didn’t really have a lot of choice in who offered the title insurance policy. I didn’t know much about it, so my lender found the company for me. I’ve had to call them a few times, however, and the service is great. They definitely take good care of their customers. If I ever buy another home, I will be sure to request Fidelity National for my title insurance. |

| Our Review: Another company that offers great services, but can’t explain their background. Before we use this company we want to know how long they’ve been in business and where they came from. However, their site layout is done well, and the contacts are easily accessed, so these questions could be asked. |

| Company Overview: First American is a Fortune 500 company that was founded in 1889 to provide real estate services to newly formed Orange County, CA. In 1924 it became one of the first small companies to be allowed to offer title insurance policies in the state of California. By 1982, First American was servicing the real estate needs of the whole country. They were listed on the NYSE in 1993, and in May 2000, they changed their name from First American Title Insurance Company to The First American Corporation, to reflect all their financial services. They now operate outside of the U.S. as well. |

| Our Review: Finally we’ve found a title company with some background information. It’s nice to see what a company comes from, and what values they were built on before just jumping in and working with them. Also, their website layout is professional and functional. |

They’ve always been a great company, and seem to only get better with time. There are other companies out there, but none can rival the stellar service offered by First American. |

In 1996, they were licensed to sell title insurance in Puerto Rico. Their subsidiary, The Old Republic Title Insurance Group has over 3200 employees, and offers an array of financial services. |

| Our Review: This company has a lot of history, and offers great services to its clients. Their website is very functional and easy to use. In addition to all the services they offer, they also provide a ton of information for consumers, lenders, and anyone else who visits their websites. |

I’ve spoken to them a few times, and their customer service is just as great as their website suggests. |

| How To Select The Best Company For Title Insurance |

When you purchase a home, many lenders require that you have title insurance. However, this is not something that has to be obtained on your own. Most of the time the lender will provide you with a title insurance company, and sometimes they will give you two or three companies to choose from. If you think you know nothing about title insurance, do not worry. Most of the time you won’t need to know the details of title insurance. All you’ll need to do is research the company or companies you’ve been given and see which one offers the best services. This can usually be done by digging through the company’s website to see what their history is, and if they have a customer comments or FAQ section. If you are a lender looking for title insurance companies to offer your clients, take your pick. All of the companies listed on this page are great companies, and the ultimate decision as to which company to use will presumably come down to which one offers the best rates, and a personal opinion of which company you like better. Another nice feature that title insurance companies offer is that they will work with lenders, mortgage brokers, and individuals. This way, if an individual gets a mortgage and wants title insurance, but it is not required by the lender, they can still obtain it on their own. Unlike other insurances, there are only so many title insurance companies available to choose from, and since they specialize in title insurance, their services and businesses will be very similar in comparison when it comes to choosing “the best.” There is no right or wrong company to use when it comes to title insurance, as long as the company has been researched and proven to provide the services necessary.
